Last year when I turned 24 I started a list of things I wanted to do before I turned 25. While I didn’t get to all of them (mostly due to the pandemic!), it was fun to look back at all the things I did get a chance to do. Some things looked very different then I anticipated but nevertheless I still count them as a win! Here is my 25 before 25 list…
Learn to cook a signature dish – I would say I did this one! I cook almost every night and have a few go-tos that Max and I love.
Learn to bake a signature dessert – I learned how to make these lemon bars this summer from this recipe and they were a hit!
Learn to play golf – Did not do this one! We live really close to a golf course and I still don’t really know how to play. Whoops!
Go to a wine festival – Didn’t officially do this one either but I did go to several wineries this year! My tastes have officially matured and I actually enjoy drinking red wine now.
Hot air balloon ride – Still on my list! I definitely want to do this one soon!
Visit a friend in another state – Didn’t do this one either – mostly because we didn’t get in much traveling with the pandemic. Next year I’d love to visit my friend Allison in Denver!
Do a cooking class – Didn’t get this one in either. I would love to do another pasta making class!
Do a no spend week – Did not do this one. In fact, I’m sure I spent money every single week this year! Whoops!
Host a housewarming party – We didn’t officially have a housewarming party but we did host a baby shower for my sister and a few other small get togethers that we felt really lucky to get to host!
Get a facial – I’m hopefully doing this next week! Emily got me a gift certificate for my birthday!
Get a massage – I’m I’m hopefully doing this next week! Emily got me a gift certificate for my birthday!
Watch a classic movie – Still haven’t done this and I have no excuse because I had plenty of time for movies this year. I blame watching all 20 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy during quarantine.
Go on a road trip – Max and I road tripped to Asheville and Nashville and I learned I actually really like road trips!
Explore a new city – We got to explore Asheville! I’ve technically been there before but this time we got to enjoy it a bit more.
Take a flower arranging class – Emily and I went to the Hope Flower Farm Dahlia Festival! It was so much fun and we got to watch a flower demonstration so I’m counting it.
Successfully plant and harvest a veggie – Did this many times over! I grew zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, lettuce, rainbow chard, green beans, peppers, and lots of herbs! You can see some of my garden here!
A weekend without my phone – I did 5 days and they were glorious!
Buy my dream couch – We actually bought two couches this year and I love them both! We got the Radley sectional from Macy’s for our Family Room and Bassett’s Spencer sofa for our living room.
Find a signature perfume – I love the Chloe perfume, I wore it on my wedding.
Write 25 letters – I’m counting the 200 wedding invitations for this one.
Refinish a piece of furniture – We refinished our kitchen table and a table for my office!
Take dance classes – We took dance classes leading up to our wedding and had so much fun. I was honestly surprised at how enjoyable it was and want to do them again at some point!
Go on a honeymoon – Our big honeymoon to Hawaii is postponed but we went to the lake for a couple of days and really enjoyed it.
Move into our house! – This got a bit sped up due to the pandemic but I can cross this off! We love love love our house so much and I’m so grateful!
Get Married – This looked very different from what I anticipated but it was the most special day.
I hope this was fun to read and inspired you to write your own birthday bucket list! I’m working on my 26 before 26 list and am going to share it on Monday!
XO, Carla
