If your body has recently changed and your closet is currently full of items that don’t totally work for you, then this blog post is for you! I created this method after taking my sister shopping. She had a baby last year and her body was feeling different and unfamiliar to her. To fill in the gaps in her closet, I took her shopping at Target. I actually filmed the whole thing for TikTok and it went a little viral, gaining over 750K views in a few weeks. Turns out the feeling of needing new clothes because your body changed is quite relatable!
In case you haven’t heard this recently, you deserve to have a wardrobe full of clothes that fit your body as it currently is.
Before you get started, be sure to clean out your closet and take inventory of what you have and what you need. You can watch this video to see how I recommend cleaning out your closet (spoiler alert: its easy and simple!)
Below are my best tips for dressing your body if it has changed recently.
Tip 1: If you look at it for more than a second, pick it up to try it on.
Tip 2: Grab a bunch of sizes to try and compare.
Tip 3: If you’re not sure about something (how much you like it, the fit, the wedgie potential, etc.), just wear them around for a while and see how they feel!
Tip 4: Don’t worry about the colors and styles you usually wear. Just grab it and try it on! It might be way better than you think. Or not, but either way it’s helpful information
Tip 5: Make sure to get the lynchpin items, like any undergarments (hi strapless bra), you need to wear all of your clothes! No use having a piece of clothing you can’t wear because you don’t have the right underwear!
Bonus Tip: This is a great time to embrace less expensive retailers. I recommend Target and Old Navy because they offer a large range of sizes in store.
